Tac Town Tattoo’s Original Location Has Closed and Moved to 84th & Pacific
Update 5/25/2019
After 11 months of direct actions, we believe the Nazis we've been fighting have fled their current location on S. 72nd St. in Tacoma and their branding as Tac Town Tattoo.
It has been amazing to watch our community come together to learn, share resources and commit to making Tacoma a place that is inhospitable to Nazi businesses. Direct action WORKS! Here are just some of the actions this group made happen over the past year:
3 protests
1 billboard
4 community presentations
194 news stories with a potential audience of 157 million people - including an appearance on CNN's United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell
a run of "hate has no home here" signs for front yards
764 action-oriented and community-building conversations in this Facebook group
hundreds of landlord letters and calls
3 neighborhood canvassing events
dozens of negative online reviews
3 white supremacists poster clean-ups (including one where we returned the shredded flyers back to our local Nazis' doorsteps)
and more
But we knew coming into this that our work would never be completely done - and we have more work to do in the coming days and weeks. We've confirmed that Kenrick Baughman, tattoo artist and former employee of Tac Town Tattoo owner Jason "Gravy" Desimas, is opening a new shop near S. 84th and Pacific.
We're working quickly to confirm details, including landlord contact information, grand opening date and more, and will be putting out a call to act very soon (the thought of an anti-Nazi protest at their first official day in business is positively delightful).
In the meantime, please reach out if you have any info to contribute, or ideas for how we can continue to make it too uncomfortable for white supremacists to do business in Tacoma.
Onward!
